Hyderabad: A woman, aspiring to work in the USA, got scammed out of Rs 3.5 lakh by someone promising to sponsor her H1-B visa. After applying for a job in a US-based company, she reported the incident to the Cyberabad cybercrime police.

She received an SMS from “QP-RAMBDT” offering H1-B visa sponsorship. When she contacted them, a person named Ramesh asked for her documents and initially requested Rs 20,000. The scammer continued asking for more money with different excuses.

When she asked for the Petition Receipt Notice from Quadrant Staffing, usually issued by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) within a week of application, the scammers avoided her questions and eventually stopped responding to her calls.
