Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo have agreed to eliminate visa requirements for each other’s citizens. This means that people from the two countries will be able to travel between their countries without needing a visa.
The agreement is aimed at making it easier for people to travel between the two countries and to boost trade relations.
The decision comes after talks between officials from the two countries in Kinshasa, the capital of DR Congo.
Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has long advocated for visa-free travel between the two countries. He has said that travel within East Africa should be free of unnecessary costs.
In December, President Museveni said that it was “absurd” to charge for a visa to enter DR Congo. He also urged officials from the two countries to speed up the process of implementing visa-free travel.
Both Ugandan and Congolese citizens have complained about the high cost of visas in the past.
