Significant Increase in International Student Visa Denials Across the United States

The number of international students facing visa rejections in the US has increased significantly in recent years. According to data from the Presidents’ Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration, visa denials for students from Africa, the Pacific Islands, and South Africa have more than doubled since 2015.

There are a number of factors that may be contributing to this increase, including stricter visa requirements, increased scrutiny of visa applications, and the ongoing political climate in the US.

Xiao Wang, the Co-founder and CEO of Boundless Immigration, told ABC57 that the increase in visa denials is having a negative impact on international students and the US higher education system.

“This is a serious problem,” Wang said. “It’s making it harder for international students to come to the US to study, and it’s hurting our universities.”

Wang urged the US government to take steps to address the issue, such as providing more transparency and clarity about visa requirements and making the visa application process more efficient.

“We need to make sure that international students have a fair chance to study in the US,” Wang said. “They are a valuable part of our society, and we need them.”
