The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has officially lifted its visa ban on Nigeria and simultaneously sealed a substantial $1 billion investment agreement.

President Bola Tinubu made this announcement following his meeting with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi this week. This comprehensive investment pact encompasses various sectors, including defense, agriculture, and infrastructure, with the potential to generate employment opportunities and stimulate economic growth in Nigeria.

The visa ban, initially imposed by the UAE in October 2022 amid diplomatic disputes, had posed challenges for Nigerians seeking to travel to the UAE for work, business, or tourism. The removal of this ban signifies a significant stride towards normalizing relations between Nigeria and the UAE, underscoring the strengthening economic bonds between the two nations.
