VFS Global anticipates a significant increase in visa applications from India in 2024, surpassing pre-pandemic levels, as appointment availability eases. Vishal Jairath, head-South Asia at VFS Global, mentioned that client governments are indicating improved appointment availability, and the company has enhanced infrastructure and capacity. In 2023, visa applications grew by 16% YoY, reaching 93% of the 2019 pre-pandemic level. The backlog from the pandemic caused delays in visa appointments, but the situation is improving.
US visa wait times have reduced from two years to eight-nine months, while Schengen appointments are often available within a week. Popular destinations for Indian travelers in 2023 included Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, the UK, and the US. Premium services like “Visa at Your Doorstep” have seen a five-fold increase, reflecting a post-pandemic trend towards premiumization.
