The U.S. is giving out more H-2B work visas (64,716 extra) because there aren’t enough workers. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Labor (DOL) want to help American and foreign workers find jobs.
Some of these visas (20,000) are specifically for people from Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, and Honduras. This is part of a plan to deal with migration issues and create more job opportunities in these countries.
Also, there are 44,716 visas for workers who have been here before, so experienced people can keep their jobs. This helps businesses run smoothly.
