Planning a trip to Brazil next year? If you’re from the US, get ready to share your bank statements before you go. Starting from April 10, 2025, American travelers, along with those from Australia and Canada, will need a visa to enter Brazil. The good news is that for tourism or cruise trips, you can apply for an evisa online instead of going to a consulate. The visa costs $80.90 and is valid for 10 years with multiple entries allowed, but each stay is limited to 90 days per year.

Previously planned for 2024, Brazil’s visa program is now confirmed to start in 2025. Until 2019, US travelers had to obtain visas for Brazil, and even evisas were introduced just a year before the system was completely abolished.

To apply for the visa, you’ll need to provide additional information besides your bank statements. This includes a letter detailing your trip’s purpose and dates, confirmed accommodation details, proof of US residence, return tickets to Brazil, and proof of income. You’ll need to show an average of at least $2,000 in your account through the last three bank statements or six payslips. If you don’t meet these financial requirements, you can have a sponsor vouch for you instead.
