The Diversity Visa program allows people from countries with low US immigration rates to apply, if they meet specific requirements.
How are People Chosen?
The Diversity Visa (DV) program randomly selects candidates based on strict criteria set by the Department of State. 55,000 visas are available for Fiscal Year 2025, distributed across six regions, with no single country receiving more than seven percent. The application process is free, but selected individuals must pay a visa application fee when scheduled for an interview. While being chosen increases the chance of getting an immigrant visa, it doesn’t guarantee approval, as per reports.
