The US embassy in Pakistan is taking steps to make it easier and faster for Pakistanis to get visas. These steps include:
- Speeding up visa appointments. Over ten thousand Pakistani visa applicants who were originally scheduled for 2024 at the US Consulate General in Karachi are now being rescheduled for 2023, with some appointments available as early as next week.
- Giving people more flexibility. Pakistani travelers can now reschedule appointments at either the Consulate General in Karachi or the US Embassy in Islamabad, whichever is more convenient for them.
- Making it easier for some people to renew their visas. Eligible individuals who have previously obtained US visas can now apply for interview waivers. This means they can submit their application materials at a drop box without having to schedule an appointment.
These measures are aimed at making it easier for Pakistanis to travel to the US for business, education, family visits, and cultural exchanges.
