The United States has imposed visa restrictions on two high-ranking figures from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a Sudanese paramilitary group, due to their involvement in human rights violations. RSF General Abdul Rahman Juma faces these restrictions for his alleged role in the abduction and murder of West Darfur Governor Khamis Abbakar and his brother on June 15, 2023. Additionally, Abdelrahim Daglo, the group’s second-in-command, has been sanctioned for his association with the RSF, which stands accused of various human rights abuses, including conflict-related sexual violence and ethnically motivated killings.

The US government’s decision to enforce these visa restrictions is part of its efforts to discourage human rights violations and promote accountability in Sudan. It also serves as a clear message to the Sudanese government that the US is committed to ensuring that those who commit human rights abuses do not go unpunished.
