H-1B visa holders, including those from India, can now renew their visas within the United States, a big change after almost 20 years. This applies to up to 20,000 eligible workers.
In June 2023, the US Department of State started a pilot program for renewing certain work visas, including H-1B, announced during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit. The five-week program accepts 20,000 participants, split between those who recently got H-1B visas in India and Canada. The State Department has a website for visa holders to check eligibility, with submissions starting on Monday.
