UK Stops Care Workers' Families from Coming

The UK has made a new rule preventing care workers from bringing their families when they move there. This decision is because last year, there were too many family members (120,000) coming with care workers (100,000). The UK Home Office wants to reduce how many people move to the country and fix problems with visas.

UK Home Secretary James Cleverly said, “Care workers are important, but we need to make sure our rules are fair. Our plan will protect British workers and still welcome talented people from other countries.”

Now, care providers in England also have to register with the Care Quality Commission to stop workers from being treated badly. Minister for Social Care Helen Whately said, “Care workers from other countries are good, but we need more local workers. Our changes make sure we have a good workforce without relying too much on other countries.”

The UK government found that some care workers were getting visas unfairly, so they are changing the rules. This includes making sure skilled workers get paid more and not giving discounts to workers in jobs where there aren’t enough people.

They are also checking how well the Graduate Route for students is working. Many Indian students use this route, and the UK wants to make sure it is fair and doesn’t cause problems. There will be higher salary requirements for Skilled Worker visas starting from April 4.
