Big news! The UK Home Office has made renewing visa sponsor licences super easy. Starting April 6, 2024, sponsors don’t need to renew – the Home Office automatically added 10 years to all licences expiring on or after that date.
Before, having a sponsor licence was a must for hiring folks from outside the UK and for education providers bringing in international students.
If your licence expires on or after April 6, 2024, no need to renew or pay. Ignore any renewal notices.
If you already applied for renewal, you’ll get your money back. Previously, sponsors paid between £536 to £1,476, and it took up to 8 weeks for the Home Office to decide.
While renewing is no longer needed, remember to stick to the sponsor rules, says the Home Office.
