U.S. Extends Visa Validity for Kyrgyzstan Citizens

Starting today, the U.S. government has doubled the validity period for new tourist and business visas issued to citizens of Kyrgyzstan from five to 10 years. Additionally, the $20 reciprocity fee for B1, B2, and B1/B2 visa applications for Kyrgyzstani passport holders has been removed.

These adjustments, effective March 4, 2024, aim to enhance travel opportunities for thousands of Kyrgyzstani travelers annually, reflecting the United States’ commitment to fostering connections between the American and Kyrgyz people, as highlighted by the U.S. Embassy in Bishkek.

Lesslie Viguerie, U.S. Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic, emphasized that these changes are geared towards improving services, streamlining travel between the two countries, and strengthening their bonds. The 10-year validity applies to B1, B2, and B1/B2 visas issued from this date and does not retroactively affect previously issued visas. The modifications specifically pertain to the mentioned visa categories, with further consular service enhancements expected later this summer.
