Starting January 1, 2024, the U.S. has changed how it deals with applications for visit visas and certain student visas. The decision to drop the visa interview requirement for these types of visas comes from the U.S. Department of State, under the guidance of the Secretary of State and the Department of Homeland Security.
They have identified specific situations where interview waivers are now seen as “in the national interest.” This means that certain applicants won’t need to go through the usual visa interview process. These changes will be in place until further notice and will be reviewed annually.
In essence, this adjustment aims to simplify the visa application process for visits and studies, making it easier for eligible applicants by waiving the requirement for a visa interview.
