Turkey is working on making it easier for its citizens to travel to India by introducing electronic visas (e-visas), according to Firat Sunel, the Turkish Ambassador to India. He mentioned a significant increase in trade between the two countries in the past decade and expressed hope that it will soon reach 20 billion.
The strong relationship between India and Turkey was highlighted, citing examples like Turkey helping India during the COVID-19 pandemic and India quickly assisting after a devastating earthquake last year. The ambassador emphasized the spiritual connection between the two nations.
On the economic front, there has been substantial growth in bilateral trade. In 2012, it was 6.6 billion, and by 2022, it nearly doubled to 13.66 billion. The shared goal is to achieve 20 billion, a target the ambassador sees as realistic in the near future.
