Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has urged the European Union to make it easier for Turkish citizens to get Schengen visas. He said that the current visa process is too slow and complicated, and that Turkish citizens should be able to get long-term visas with multiple entries.
Turkey is also working to modernize its customs union with the EU and negotiate a visa-free travel agreement. Turkish citizens are the second-largest group of people who apply for Schengen visas, and many have complained about long waiting times and unfair treatment.
The European Federation of Journalists has urged all Schengen countries to revise their visa regulations and avoid discriminatory practices against Turkish journalists
