Thailand is making it easier for tourists to visit by waiving visa requirements for many countries. This is part of a plan to increase the number of tourists coming to Thailand.
Currently, 80% of tourists do not need a visa to enter Thailand. This includes tourists from the US, Australia, the UK, and most of mainland Europe.
Thailand has also recently announced new visa-free stays for Russian tourists (90 days) and Chinese visitors (30 days). There are also considerations to waive the visa requirement for Indian citizens.
If all these changes are implemented, Thailand will become a visa-free destination for more than 90% of its foreign tourist arrivals.
Authorities say that they can effectively monitor foreigners after their arrival, and that this is more effective than the traditional visa bureaucracy.
