Thailand to Welcome More Indian and Chinese Tourists with Simplified Visa Rules
Thailand is mulling over a relaxation of visa regulations targeted at Indian and Chinese tourists, with the aim of elevating tourism revenue to a significant $100 billion by the coming year. The current visa application procedure for Chinese nationals has been intricate and costly, acting as a deterrent for potential travelers. Similarly, Indian tourists currently contend with a $57 visa application fee for a 15-day stay.
The intended adjustments in visa rules are designed to streamline the application process and render it more affordable for tourists from India and China, encouraging visits to Thailand. Additionally, the proposed changes would extend the allowable duration of stay for visitors from these nations. Alongside the visa revisions, Thailand is proactively working on boosting flight capacity to the country and streamlining immigration clearance procedures, all contributing to a more accessible and seamless experience for tourists interested in exploring the country’s offerings.
The Phuket Tourism Association has thrown its weight behind these proposed changes to visa rules, believing that they would yield positive outcomes for the nation’s tourism industry.
