Taiwan is making significant changes to its visa policy for Vietnamese tourists. Starting September 15th, Vietnamese citizens who possess visas for Japan and South Korea will no longer be granted automatic Taiwanese visas. Instead, they will be required to follow the standard visa application process. This adjustment comes in response to past instances where some Vietnamese individuals used Japanese and South Korean visas to enter Taiwan without proper authorization, causing complications for the Taiwanese government. As a result, Taiwan is tightening visa regulations to prevent such incidents.

While those who already hold a Taiwanese visa can continue to use it for entry, first-time applicants from Vietnam will need to go through the standard visa application procedure, which typically takes approximately 8 days. Vietnamese travelers with immediate plans to visit Taiwan are advised to contact the Taiwanese embassy or consulate in Vietnam for guidance and additional information.
