Sweden has supported the EU Council’s idea to ease visa rules for Ethiopia and lower the visa fee for The Gambia.

The move is aimed at urging Ethiopia to cooperate more in taking back its citizens whose asylum requests were rejected.

The changes mean that Ethiopian applicants may face longer processing times, may lose their multiple entry privileges, and might need to provide more documentation for their visa applications. Additionally, diplomatic passport holders from Ethiopia will have to pay the visa fee.

For The Gambia, Sweden endorses the proposal to reduce the visa fee from a higher rate to โ‚ฌ80, to make it more affordable for its citizens applying for a Schengen visa. The objective is to streamline the process for EU member states and reduce the financial burden on Gambian applicants.

While the EU Council has yet to decide, Sweden has given its support to both these proposals, demonstrating its commitment to facilitating travel for these nations.
