In a decisive step to revive its tourism industry, Sri Lanka has introduced a complimentary tourist visa scheme for nationals from India, China, Russia, Malaysia, Japan, and Indonesia. This move aims to attract more visitors from these key markets, particularly India, which has traditionally been Sri Lanka’s top source of inbound tourism.

Effective immediately, Indian tourists, along with those from the specified countries, will receive free tourist visas upon arrival. This pilot initiative, valid until March 31, 2024, will grant travelers dual entry status and a 30-day stay in Sri Lanka, allowing them to delve into the island nation’s rich cultural heritage, breathtaking natural beauty, and diverse attractions.
