Sri Lanka Offers Free Tourist Visas to India & 6 Countries

Sri Lanka has launched a “Pilot Project” to give free tourist visas to some countries, including India. This plan, introduced by Foreign Minister Sabry, will be in place until March 31, 2024. The immediate rollout includes travelers from China, Russia, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, and India.

The aim is to help Sri Lanka’s struggling tourism industry, which has been hurt by debt. Minister Ali Sabry announced this on social media. The decision to offer free visas is due to a drop in tourists after the 2019 Easter bombings and the challenges of COVID-19. Sri Lanka hopes this move will boost its economy.

Now, tourists can visit Sri Lanka without needing a visa, especially from India. This initiative, running until March 2024, shows Sri Lanka’s commitment to reviving its tourism sector.
