Starting January 1, South Korea is embracing the global trend of accommodating remote workers by introducing a digital nomad visa. This visa allows digital nomads to stay in the country for up to two years, with specific eligibility criteria:

The visa is designed for foreign nationals engaged in remote work, explicitly prohibiting job-seeking within South Korea. Applicants need an annual income exceeding 84.96 million won ($66,000), double the country’s gross national income per capita. Eligible individuals must be 18 years or older and have a minimum of one year of work experience in their current field. Applicants are required to have private health insurance with coverage of at least 100 million won to ensure emergency travel back to their home country. Once approved, digital nomads can bring along a spouse and children under the age of 18.

In addition to the digital nomad visa, South Korea is reportedly considering a K-Culture visa for K-Pop enthusiasts, part of its effort to attract 20 million visitors and diversify its tourism offerings.
