South Korea has introduced a ‘workation’ visa, catering to digital nomads who love working remotely while exploring new places. This visa allows foreigners and their families, earning double South Korea’s per capita income of $33,000 (Rs 27 lakh), to stay for up to one year. Similar visas are now offered by nearly half of the world’s countries, and destinations like Spain, Argentina, Romania, UAE, and Croatia are quite popular.

This new visa, issued by South Korea’s justice ministry, is aimed at individuals who enjoy a working holiday or ‘workcation.’ To be eligible, foreign nationals need to meet the income criterion, possess medical insurance coverage of Rs 63 lakh, and be able to cover medical treatment and repatriation expenses. Families of eligible individuals are also welcome to apply.

It’s important to note that visa recipients under this program are not allowed to be employed by any company in South Korea or engage in profit-making activities during their stay.
