South Australia has a new plan for people who want to live there. They are looking for skilled workers from many different jobs, even if they are from other countries or already live in Australia. If you’re from another country, the rules for getting a visa to live there haven’t changed. But if you already live and work in South Australia, there’s a new rule.
Before, if you worked in South Australia, you could ask to stay there forever. Now, you have to tell them you want to stay first (it’s called “registering your interest”). Then, South Australia will invite some people to ask officially to stay. They made this change because they don’t have as many spots for visas this year as they did last year. So, they want to control how many people can stay. This change is like what other places in Australia do, except for the Northern Territory. If you want to live in South Australia and have a skill they need, you can say you want to stay on the South Australian government website.
