Three young women in Mohali were scammed out of โ‚น9.82 lakhs by an immigration company promising Canadian visas. Despite the police filing a case two years later, the fraudsters are currently on the run.

Bhavanpreet Singh reported the incident on March 8, 2022, leading to a case against Gurmeet Singh from Malowal village, Amritsar district. The investigating officer, ASI Davinder Singh, mentioned that Gurmeet Singh is currently evading authorities, and efforts are underway to locate him.

Responding to a newspaper ad, Bhavanpreet, Harpreet, and Rajni Kataria contacted the company at their Phase-2 office, hoping to go to Canada. Gurmeet Singh demanded โ‚น5 lakhs from Bhavanpreet for the promised Canadian visa. Bhavanpreet paid โ‚น1.18 lakhs, Harpreet paid โ‚น7.64 lakhs, and Rajni Kataria paid โ‚น99,057. However, after taking the money, Gurmeet Singh failed to deliver the promised visas or refund their money. The total amount cheated from the three victims is โ‚น9.82 lakhs.

Despite the police taking action two years later, Gurmeet Singh is currently evading authorities. The victims expressed frustration, emphasizing the need for prompt action to catch the fraudsters.
