From March 1, Saudi Arabia has started issuing visas for the upcoming Hajj season scheduled between June 14 and 19. Pilgrims worldwide can apply for Hajj visas until April 29.
Authorities have approved 1,860 buildings in Mecca to accommodate around 1.2 million pilgrims. The deadline for building licenses has been extended to May 8th, and it’s expected that over 5000 buildings will be licensed.
Preparations are in full swing, and Saudi Minister of Hajj, Tawfiq Al Rabiah, announced changes in allocating specific locations for countries at holy sites. Details will be finalized in contracts.
Muslim pilgrims are set to arrive on May 9th, the first day of Dhul Qaidah, the 11th Islamic month.
Last year, around two million pilgrims joined Hajj in and around Mecca, matching pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
