Wider E-Visa Eligibility for Saudi Arabia Visitors

Saudi Arabia has extended its e-visa program to include citizens of eight more countries. Visitors from Albania, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Maldives, South Africa, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan are now eligible for the e-visa, enabling leisure, business, and religious (Umrah) travel. This expansion raises the total number of eligible countries to 57.

The new visitor e-visa provides travelers with a range of benefits. It remains valid for a full year, allowing multiple entries into Saudi Arabia. Additionally, holders can stay in the country for up to 90 days per visit, facilitating longer and more immersive experiences.

Following the introduction of the e-visa program in 2019, Saudi Arabia witnessed remarkable growth in its tourism sector. In 2022, the country welcomed 93.5 million visitors, marking a substantial 93 percent increase from the previous year. This surge in visitors contributed to a tourism expenditure of 185 billion Saudi Riyals ($49 billion).

Easing Entry for Schengen, British, and US Visa Holders

In 2022, Saudi Arabia took steps to further facilitate travel by providing a visitor e-visa for individuals holding valid Schengen, British, and US visas that had been utilized to enter these countries prior to arrival in Saudi Arabia. The convenience extends to permanent residents of the European Union, Gulf Arab nations, Britain, and the US.

96-Hour Stopover Visa Introduces Flexibility

Earlier this year, Saudi Arabia introduced the free 96-hour Stopover Visa, allowing passengers a stay of up to 96 hours in the country. This move enhances the country’s attractiveness as a transit point and encourages travelers to explore its offerings during short layovers.
