Russia and Kuwait have announced plans to eliminate visa requirements for their citizens. The decision is expected to boost tourism between the two countries, especially from Kuwait.

Russia has also proposed eliminating tourist visas for five other countries: Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Malaysia, and Kuwait. Deputy Minister of Economic Development Dmitry Vakhrukov is optimistic that this could be implemented as early as 2024.

The goal is to make it easier for citizens of these countries to travel to Russia, which could attract more tourists, especially during the summer season.

Russia’s tourism industry faced challenges in 2022 due to the war in Ukraine, which led to airspace restrictions and visa limitations on Russian citizens. However, the decision to scrap visa requirements with Kuwait is a positive step that could help to revive the industry.
