Changes in the UK’s visa rules might affect marriage plans in Punjab. The UK gave a lot of visas to Indians in 2022 – 25% of the total, to be exact. More Indians got work and student visas. But now, the UK is making some new rules. They are increasing the minimum salary for certain jobs and saying that care workers can’t bring their families to the UK. Also, it’s getting harder for British citizens to bring their foreign partners or family members because they need to earn more money.
For jobs that need skills, the minimum salary used to be £27,000, but now it’s around £40,000. This might affect healthcare workers and care workers a lot because they make up almost half of the UK’s work visas. Even though their minimum salary is not changing, they might not be allowed to bring their families anymore, unlike before.
