Phuket, Thailand, is introducing an online visa extension system for tourists, aiming to enhance efficiency during the New Year holidays. The initiative simplifies visa extensions for foreigners with 12 designated visa types, prioritizing Phuket in government policies. In December, Phuket Airport saw increased tourist arrivals, particularly from Russia. The ‘E-Extension’ online system streamlines the process for the 12 visa categories, allowing tourists to submit documents and schedule appointments online.
Currently available in Bangkok and key Immigration Offices, the service is part of a trial launched in November in collaboration with VFS GLOBAL. Specific details for Phuket are pending on the Immigration website.
