Effective immediately, the Saudi Arabian government has expanded its e-visa program to individuals in Pakistan applying for business visas, short-term work authorization, and work visas. This move represents a shift from the traditional visa issuance process, as these individuals will now receive an e-visa with a QR code instead of having a visa sticker physically endorsed in their passports.

With this new e-visa system, individuals approved for the mentioned visa categories will have their visa details electronically linked to their passports through a QR code. This digital format is expected to streamline the visa application and approval process, providing a more efficient and convenient experience for applicants.

However, during the initial phase of implementation, authorities have advised affected individuals to carry a printed copy of their issued e-visa in paper form when boarding a plane to Saudi Arabia. This precautionary measure aims to ensure a smooth and hassle-free entry into the country, as the airport and immigration officials may still be adjusting to the new e-visa system.

The Saudi Arabian government initially rolled out this e-visa program on May 1, 2023, for nationals of eight countries, including India and the United Arab Emirates. The success of the program in these countries likely prompted the expansion to include Pakistani applicants as well.

By adopting the e-visa system, Saudi Arabia aims to modernize its visa process, enhance security measures, and facilitate international travel for visitors and workers. The use of QR codes eliminates the need for physical visa stickers, reducing the risk of forgery and providing a more efficient way to verify visa status at entry points.

For individuals from Pakistan seeking business visas, short-term work authorization, or work visas to Saudi Arabia, the e-visa with a QR code is now the preferred and official method of visa issuance. With proper implementation and adaptation, this digital transformation is expected to improve the overall visa application process for travelers and strengthen the ties between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan in terms of business, work, and cultural exchange.
