This year, 103 individuals got Dutch citizenship through naturalization in Midden-Groningen. They received a ‘Certificate of Granting of Dutch Citizenship’ from Mayor Adriaan Hoogendoorn, making them eligible for a Dutch passport, voting, and any profession. Most were from countries like Thailand, Syria, Eritrea, Uganda, Afghanistan, and Brazil.

Mayor Adriaan Hoogendoorn emphasized the significance, calling it more than a symbolic gesture. He congratulated them and encouraged active participation in the Dutch community. Last year, Mayor Maarten Divendal welcomed 130 new citizens from various countries.
