The Parent Resident Visa allows New Zealand residents and citizens to sponsor their parents, supporting skilled migration. With an annual quota of 2500, the cost of the visa starts at NZD 3180. Applications are selected either from a queue or a ballot pool, depending on the submission date.
The Parent Resident Visa program was reinitiated on October 12, 2022, introducing new sponsor requirements. Expressions of interest (EOIs) were accepted starting November 14, 2022. Sponsors must earn 1.5 times the New Zealand median wage, with the limit increasing by half the median wage for each joint sponsor or additional parent. Notably, two adult children, rather than just an adult child and their partner, can now jointly sponsor a parent. Other requirements for the Parent Resident Visa remain unchanged.
