New Zealand Mulls Longer Visas for Vietnamese

New Zealand is thinking about giving longer visas to people from Vietnam. Gerry Brownlee, New Zealand’s Speaker, said he supports this idea during a meeting with Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Monday. He wants to make it easier for Vietnamese people to visit New Zealand and thanked them for their contributions.

During the meeting, Brownlee also talked about making cultural exchanges between the two countries better to make their relationship stronger. The meeting happened while Prime Minister Chinh was visiting New Zealand from March 10 to 11, invited by Prime Minister Christopher Luxon.

Around 11,000 Vietnamese people live in New Zealand, mainly in Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington. While New Zealand has many types of visitor visas allowing stays of up to six or nine months and letting holders bring their family, Vietnam still requires visas for New Zealanders. So, New Zealanders need a visa if they want to visit Vietnam for up to three months with multiple entries.
