Immigration New Zealand (INZ) now lets you apply online for Permanent Resident Visa (PRV), Second or Subsequent Resident Visa (SSRV), and Variation of Travel Conditions of a resident visa (VOTC). This change aims to simplify the process, though certain visas like Global Impact PR and Afghan Emergency Resettlement PR stay the same.

PR Visa holders can live, work, and study in New Zealand, bringing partners and dependent children up to 24 years old. Using INZ’s online system means less paperwork, and you can easily check your PR Visa status. Paper applications are only accepted in special cases.

To be eligible for PR in New Zealand, you need to have a resident visa for at least two years. If you got your visa outside New Zealand, your first day in the country on the resident visa must be at least two years ago. Applying too early may result in rejection; wait until you meet the eligibility criteria. The processing fee starts at NZD 240.
