US Consulate in Mumbai Takes Steps to Reduce Visa Application Backlog
The EB-1 visa, for highly skilled people with special talents or achievements, has slowed down for Indian applicants. The date when they can apply for the visa has gone back from February 2022 to January 2012. This means if you applied before 2012, you can apply now, but if you applied later, you have to wait.
This happened because a lot of Indians want this visa, but there are only a certain number available each year. So, there’s a backlog of applications. However, there’s some hope that things will get better in October 2023 when more visas become available with the start of the new fiscal year. So, while it’s a challenge for now, there’s a chance things will improve soon.
