Moroccan authorities are looking into a scandal at the Spanish Consulate in Nador. Four employees are accused of helping people get Schengen visas by taking bribes. The investigation, led by Spain’s Foreign Minister, focuses on a Moroccan worker hired in 2021, suspected of using his position for personal gain. He allegedly charged around โฌ8,000 per visa, benefiting many in his neighborhood. The probe involves senior officials and claims of faked documents like bank statements.
Applicants reportedly paid up to โฌ15,000 for assistance. Moroccan intelligence is also checking if Spanish authorities are involved. Similar cases were reported in Tangier in June 2023. The investigation is ongoing, raising concerns about visa fraud and potential corruption among diplomatic officials. More details are expected soon.
