VFS Global, a big visa helper, shared on Thursday that in Ahmedabad, way more people applied for visas – 32% more than in 2019, which was before the Covid-19 pandemic. They also said it went up by 10% compared to 2022.
According to Sharad Gowani from VFS Global, most of the applications were from people who want to stay in a place for a short time, like businessmen and tourists. About 75% of the applications were for these reasons. The rest were from students.
Across the whole country, VFS Global said they got 93% of the visa applications they used to get before the pandemic. Compared to 2022, there was a 16% increase in visa applications last year.
Gowani talked about a service called Visa At Your Doorstep (VAYD), which lets people get their visas without going to crowded places. He said that after the pandemic, more regular people are using this service. In 2023, VAYD bookings in India increased five times compared to 2019.
