More Entrepreneurs Get Canada PR via Start-Up Visa

New data from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) shows a big increase in the number of immigrant entrepreneurs who gained permanent residency through Canada’s Start-Up Visa (SUV) program. In January, 490 entrepreneurs got permanent residency, which is 58.1% more than the month before.

Last year, the SUV program set a new record by welcoming 1,460 new permanent residents, beating the old record of 575 in 2022. This growth is still going strong.

In January, there was a huge jump in SUV immigration, up by 880% from 2023 when only 50 people got permanent residency through the program in the same month.

If this high rate of SUV immigration continues, it could mean 5,880 new permanent residents by the end of this year, more than four times the number from last year.
