Mexico is now asking Peruvians who want to visit as tourists but work there to get a visa starting April 20, 2024. This doesn’t apply if they already have a valid visa from a Schengen area country.
Before, since 2012, Peruvians in this situation didn’t need a visa for Mexico. But because more Peruvians were breaking the tourist rules, Mexico is changing this for now. They want to work with Peru to make migration safer and may remove the visa rule later.
In return, Peru will also ask Mexicans visiting to get a visa, except for some visa holders and Pacific Alliance members. This follows issues between the two countries, like Peru sending Mexico’s ambassador home in 2022 and other tensions.
