Malaysia Ends Visa Agencies for Bangladeshi Workers

Malaysia has stopped using agencies for Bangladeshi workers’ visa applications, announced Home Affairs Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

Now, workers can apply directly through the Immigration Departmentโ€™s MYVISA system using an active ID and a government-provided user manual.

The minister urged employers to speed up the entry process for workers within the approved quota under the Labour Recalibration Programme 2.0 and use the system to streamline visa applications.

Additionally, he asked Human Rights Watch (HRW) to share any evidence of abuse or deaths involving children and women at Immigration depots. He’s willing to meet with NGO representatives to address these concerns.

According to an HRW report in The Star, over 1,400 children were detained, some separated from families or alone.
