Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior is thinking about bringing back various visit visas, including commercial, tourist, and family visas, to boost tourism. This is part of the new government’s plan to revive tourism, which has been slow in recent years.

Following the reopening of family and dependent visas with updated conditions by Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousuf Al-Sabah, effective from January 28, there’s now a consideration to bring back visit visas. Arab Times reports that this will be done carefully, with specific guidelines and conditions, aiming to prevent issues related to social, security, and other aspects linked to the issuance of visit visas.

In August 2022, Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior had temporarily stopped issuing family visit visas and tourist visas. Expatriates make up about 3.4 million of Kuwait’s total population of 4.6 million.
