The EU Ambassador to Kosovo, Tomรกลก Szunyog, has warned Kosovo residents that they could be banned from entering the Schengen Area for up to ten years if they overstay their stay.

Kosovo is expected to receive visa-free access to the Schengen Area on January 1, 2024, which means that Kosovo residents will be able to travel to and within the Schengen Area without a visa for up to 90 days within a 180-day period.

However, Ambassador Szunyog has emphasized that this does not mean that Kosovo residents can live or work in the Schengen Area. He has also warned that if Kosovo residents overstay their stay, they could be banned from entering the Schengen Area for up to ten years.

The Kosovo government has launched an awareness campaign to inform residents about the new visa-free rules and the importance of adhering to them. Residents have been advised to prepare necessary documentation, including a biometric passport, proof of accommodation, and a return flight itinerary, before traveling to the Schengen Area.

It is important for Kosovo residents to understand and adhere to the new visa-free rules so that they can continue to enjoy this privilege.
