Kosovo citizens will be able to travel to the Schengen Area without a visa from January 1, 2024. This was confirmed by the German Embassy in Kosovo and the European Commission.
The decision to grant visa-free travel to Kosovars was made in April 2023. However, there were concerns that France might reconsider its commitment due to the ongoing dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.
Kosovo’s President, Vjosa Osmani, warned that any suspension of visa-free travel would “permanently disrupt the dialogue with Serbia.”
The German government has reaffirmed its support for visa-free travel for Kosovars.
Kosovo currently ranks 186th in the VisaGuide.World Passport Index, which means that Kosovar passport holders have very limited visa-free travel.
