Kenya has exciting news for global visitors as it plans to remove visa requirements starting January 2024. President William Ruto announced this decision on December 12, highlighting its significance in boosting tourism and global connections.

This move is part of the government’s effort to simplify entry using a new digital platform. President Ruto mentioned that this platform would make the process smoother by issuing electronic travel authorization, doing away with the hassle of visa applications. Speaking at an event in Nairobi celebrating Kenya’s 60 years of independence, he expressed his commitment to making it easier for people worldwide to visit Kenya without needing a visa.

President Ruto’s forward-thinking aligns with his push for visa-free travel within Africa. He had earlier revealed plans for visa exemptions at a conference in the Republic of Congo in October, aiming for citizens of African countries to visit Kenya without a visa by the end of 2023. This aligns with broader efforts to strengthen ties among African nations.
