Japan is introducing a new visa to make it easier for skilled workers, especially those in IT, to live and work in the country. The visa will allow them to telework in Japan for up to six months while exploring the country.

This move aims to attract “digital nomads,” people who can work remotely from anywhere. It’s targeted at overseas workers like consultants, business owners, and YouTubers earning from international ads.

The program will start soon, and applicants need an annual income of at least 10 million yen ($68,000), citizenship from one of 50 countries with visa waiver agreements, and private health insurance.

Self-employed individuals can apply if they do business with international clients and can bring family members with private health insurance.
