Japanese investors seek visa-free entry to China for streamlined business. In a recent survey by the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, visa-free entries were a top concern among 1,713 respondents from November 23 to December 13.

Restoring visa-free entry could ease business and provide convenience for Japanese travelers.

China allowed visa-free entry for 15 days starting in 2003 but suspended it in March 2020 due to the pandemic. In the past year, China eased entry requirements to boost exchanges, attract investment, and restore confidence.

Chinese officials report 55,805 Japanese-invested companies in China, with 107,715 Japanese individuals living there as of 2021.

Beijing welcomed 230,000 Japanese nationals from January to November 2019, but the number dropped to 71,000 during the same period last year, according to Chinese media outlet Caixin.

The Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry is committed to working for the reinstatement of visa-free entries to China.”
