Japan will soon introduce a special visa for IT professionals and workers from abroad, making it easier for them to live in the country. According to a recent report by Nikkei Asia, this visa will allow highly skilled individuals to work remotely in Japan for up to six months while enjoying tourism activities.

The visa will target “digital nomads” who can work from anywhere. To be eligible, applicants must earn at least $68,000 (10 million yen) annually and be citizens of one of the 50 countries with visa waiver agreements with Japan. They also need to have private health insurance.

Self-employed individuals must generate revenue from overseas to qualify. They can bring family members if they have private health insurance coverage.
